ACET December 2026: Registration Deadline, Exam Date & Key Details

The Institute of Actuaries of India (IAI) has announced the important dates for the ACET December 2026 examination.

Students planning to begin their actuarial journey through the Actuarial Common Entrance Test (ACET) should take note of the registration deadline and exam schedule.

With registration closing soon, candidates should avoid waiting until the last day to complete the process.

Important Dates – ACET December 2026

  • Registration Started: 28 July 2026 at 3:00 PM
  • Registration Closes: 4 November 2026 at 3:00 PM
  • Exam Date: 5 December 2026
  • Exam Time: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Result Date: 16 December 2026

These dates have been published by the Institute of Actuaries of India for the December 2026 ACET session.

What Is ACET?

The Actuarial Common Entrance Test (ACET) is an entrance examination for candidates who plan to enrol as student members of the Institute of Actuaries of India and pursue the IAI actuarial examination route.

Students from a wide range of educational backgrounds can consider ACET, including those from mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance, management and other streams with an interest in numeracy and analytical thinking.

ACET Exam Pattern

ACET is a 3-hour, 100-mark examination consisting of 70 multiple-choice questions.

The question distribution is:

  • 45 questions carrying 1 mark each
  • 20 questions carrying 2 marks each
  • 5 questions carrying 3 marks each

The subject-wise allocation is:

  • Mathematics: 30 marks
  • Statistics: 30 marks
  • Data Interpretation: 15 marks
  • English: 15 marks
  • Logical Reasoning: 10 marks

There is no negative marking, and the pass mark is 50%.

Registration Fee

The ACET registration fee is ₹3,000.

According to IAI, the registration fee includes access to a sample question paper, indicative solution and the examination. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be carried forward to another ACET session.

Why Students Should Register Early

Candidates should ideally complete their registration before the final deadline rather than leaving it until 4 November 2026.

Registering early gives students time to:

  • Verify their registration details
  • Resolve payment or login issues
  • Begin structured exam preparation
  • Review the syllabus properly
  • Practise sample and mock questions

Once registration is complete, the focus should immediately shift towards consistent preparation.

How to Prepare for ACET

With Mathematics and Statistics together carrying 60 marks, students should build a strong foundation in both areas.

A simple preparation approach can be:

Concept Revision → Topic-wise Practice → MCQ Practice → Mock Tests → Final Revision

Students should also practise Data Interpretation, English and Logical Reasoning regularly instead of leaving these sections for the final few days.

Because ACET contains 70 questions within three hours, candidates should work on both accuracy and time management.

What Happens After Passing ACET?

Candidates who successfully clear ACET become eligible to apply for student membership of the Institute of Actuaries of India.

The ACET result remains valid for three years from the date of result declaration for taking student membership of IAI.

Passing ACET can therefore be an important first step for students planning to pursue actuarial qualifications through the IAI route.

Final Reminder

The registration deadline for ACET December 2026 is 4 November 2026 at 3:00 PM, while the examination will take place on 5 December 2026 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Students planning to appear should complete their registration on time and use the remaining preparation period effectively.

Register Early → Prepare Consistently → Practise MCQs → Manage Time → Enter the Exam with Confidence
