Refund Policy

Last updated: April 10, 2026  ·  We believe in fair and transparent refund terms.

Quick summary: Full refund within 7 days if no content has been accessed. 50% refund within 15 days. No refund after 15 days or after course content has been accessed, except in verified exceptional circumstances. Refunds are processed within 7–10 business days.

1. Scope

This Refund Policy applies to all course enrolments purchased directly through smonk.in. It does not apply to scholarship awards, free webinars, or free resources. This policy is in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and applicable Indian consumer protection guidelines.

“Content accessed” means any recorded video watched, any PDF downloaded, or attendance at any live class session associated with the enrolled course.

3. “Pay Once Until You Pass” Interaction

If you have enrolled under the “Pay Once Until You Pass” offer and are requesting a refund, the re-attendance benefit is forfeited upon refund approval. You cannot both receive a refund and claim the free re-attendance benefit.

4. Exceptional Circumstances

We review refund requests beyond the standard 15-day window on a case-by-case basis for the following situations:

  • Medical emergency: If you or an immediate family member has a serious medical condition that prevents continuation, submit a request with a supporting medical certificate. We may offer a refund or a transfer to a future batch at our discretion.
  • Technical failure by S.MONK: If course content is unavailable for more than 7 consecutive days due to a failure on our end and we are unable to rectify it, a proportional refund will be issued for the unutilised period.
  • Course cancellation by S.MONK: In the rare event that S.MONK cancels a batch before it begins, enrolled students will receive a full refund within 7 business days. If a batch is cancelled after it begins, a proportional refund will be issued for the uncompleted portion.
  • Duplicate payment: If your bank has charged you twice for the same enrolment, the duplicate amount will be refunded within 5 business days of confirmation.

5. Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds are not available in the following situations:

  • You changed your mind after accessing course content
  • You failed an actuarial examination (course fees are for coaching, not exam outcomes)
  • You decided to change your study body (e.g. from IAI to IFoA) after enrolment
  • You purchased the wrong course and accessed content from it
  • Your employer did not approve study leave (we recommend confirming approval before enrolling)
  • The request is made after 15 days with no exceptional circumstance

6. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, send an email to admin@smonk.in with the subject line “Refund Request — [Your Name] — [Order Number].” Include:

  • Your full name and registered email address
  • Order number (available in your portal under Orders)
  • Course name and date of purchase
  • Reason for refund request
  • Supporting documentation if applicable (medical certificate, etc.)

7. Processing Timeline

  • Acknowledgement: We will acknowledge your request within 2 business days.
  • Decision: Standard refund decisions are communicated within 5 business days. Exceptional circumstance cases may take up to 14 business days.
  • Credit to your account: Once approved, refunds are processed back to the original payment method within 7–10 business days. Bank processing times vary.

8. GST on Refunds

Where GST was charged on your purchase and a full or partial refund is approved, the GST component is refunded in proportion to the refunded amount, subject to our ability to claim a GST credit note from the tax authorities. Your tax invoice will be revised accordingly.

9. Dispute Resolution

If you are dissatisfied with our refund decision, you may:

  • Write to admin@smonk.in with “Refund Dispute” in the subject line for escalation to a senior team member
  • File a consumer complaint with the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) or the appropriate State Consumer Forum
  • Use the Online Consumer Mediation platform at consumerhelpline.gov.in
