By enrolling in any S.MONK course, using the student portal, or applying for a scholarship, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our services. These terms form a legally binding agreement between you and S.MONK School of Actuaries.
1. About S.MONK
S.MONK School of Actuaries is an actuarial coaching institute based in Mumbai, India, operating through the website smonk.in. We provide online and offline coaching for IAI (Institute of Actuaries of India) and IFoA (Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK) examinations, career resources through the S.MONK Actuarial Job Portal, and financial assistance through the S.MONK Scholarship Programme. References to “S.MONK,” “we,” “us,” or “our” in these terms refer to S.MONK School of Actuaries.
2. Eligibility
To enrol in a course or create a student account, you must:
- Be 16 years of age or older, or have consent from a parent or guardian if under 18
- Have completed at least Class 12 (Higher Secondary) education or be currently enrolled in graduation
- Provide accurate and truthful information during registration and in your student profile
- Have a valid email address and phone number that you own
3. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Do not share your password with anyone. S.MONK will never ask for your password by email or phone. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, notify us immediately at admin@smonk.in. You are liable for all activity that occurs under your account until you notify us of the compromise.
4. Course Enrolment and Fees
4.1 Course fees are displayed in Indian Rupees (INR) inclusive of all applicable taxes at the time of purchase. Fees are subject to change without notice, but any change will not affect courses you have already paid for.
4.2 Payment is processed through Razorpay, a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. S.MONK does not store your card details. Accepted payment methods include credit and debit cards, UPI, net banking, and EMI where available.
4.3 On successful payment, you will receive a tax invoice at your registered email address. Keep this invoice for your records. S.MONK is registered under GST; invoices include GSTIN details where applicable.
4.4 Enrolment grants access to the course for the period specified at the time of purchase. S.MONK reserves the right to extend access periods at its discretion but is not obligated to do so.
5. Course Access and Content
5.1 Course content is provided in online video, PDF, and live-class formats depending on the course package purchased. Access details are provided in your student portal after enrolment.
5.2 Course schedules, faculty, and content are subject to change. S.MONK will notify enrolled students of material changes with reasonable advance notice and will ensure that the educational standard committed at enrolment is maintained.
5.3 Live class recordings are made available in the student portal, typically within 24 hours of the class. Recordings remain accessible for the duration of your course access period.
5.4 You may not share your account, login credentials, or course materials with any other person. Course access is personal and non-transferable.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 All course content, study materials, videos, PDFs, question banks, and other resources provided by S.MONK are the intellectual property of S.MONK School of Actuaries and are protected by Indian copyright law.
6.2 You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use course materials for your personal educational use only. You may not copy, distribute, share, publish, broadcast, or create derivative works from any S.MONK materials without prior written consent.
6.3 S.MONK does not claim ownership over your personal data, your profile content, or any materials you upload (such as resumes). You grant S.MONK a limited licence to process and display such materials to the extent necessary to provide our services.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Share, sell, or distribute S.MONK course materials or login credentials
- Record or screen-capture live or recorded classes without written permission
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable Indian law
- Submit false or misleading information in your student profile, scholarship application, or job application
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the student portal, database, or admin systems
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to extract content or data from the website
- Post false reviews, fake testimonials, or defamatory content about S.MONK on any platform
- Harass or abuse other students, faculty, or S.MONK staff
Violation of these terms may result in immediate account suspension, cancellation of enrolment without refund, and legal action where warranted.
8. Pay Once Until You Pass
S.MONK’s “Pay Once Until You Pass” offer, where applicable to specific courses or batches, means that if you fail an exam after completing the full course as prescribed (including attending a minimum of 80% of live classes and submitting all mock attempts), you may re-attend the next available batch of the same subject at no additional fee. The specific conditions, eligibility criteria, and verification process for this offer are detailed on the course page and communicated at enrolment. This offer applies only while S.MONK continues to offer the relevant course and is subject to batch availability.
9. Job Portal Terms
9.1 The S.MONK Actuarial Job Portal is a service that connects actuarial students and professionals with employers. S.MONK acts as a facilitator and is not a recruitment agency.
9.2 Employers posting jobs on the portal are responsible for the accuracy of their listings. S.MONK does not guarantee the accuracy, legitimacy, or availability of any job listing.
9.3 By completing your student profile and applying for a job, you authorise S.MONK to share your profile information with the employer to whom you apply.
9.4 S.MONK does not guarantee employment or interview calls from any listing. Hiring decisions are entirely at the employer’s discretion.
9.5 Do not share sensitive financial information (bank account numbers, Aadhaar, PAN) through the job portal. S.MONK and legitimate employers will never request such information through the portal.
10. Scholarship Programme Terms
The S.MONK Scholarship Programme is governed by its own eligibility criteria and terms published on the scholarship page. Submission of a scholarship application does not guarantee an award. All scholarship decisions are final and at the sole discretion of S.MONK. Misrepresentation in a scholarship application will result in disqualification and may result in account termination.
11. Disclaimers
11.1 Exam outcomes: S.MONK provides coaching and study support. We do not guarantee that you will pass any actuarial examination. Exam outcomes depend on individual effort, exam body standards, and factors beyond our control.
11.2 Career outcomes: Information about salaries, career paths, and job opportunities on this website is provided for general guidance only and reflects historical market data. S.MONK does not guarantee employment or specific salary levels.
11.3 Third-party links: The website contains links to external websites (employer careers pages, exam body websites, etc.). S.MONK is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of external websites.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, S.MONK’s total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of our services shall not exceed the amount you paid to S.MONK in the 12 months preceding the claim. S.MONK shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
13.1 These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
13.2 Before initiating legal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt resolution through good-faith negotiation for a period of 30 days. If unresolved, disputes shall be referred to arbitration under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, with a single arbitrator appointed by mutual consent, conducted in English in Mumbai.
14. Changes to These Terms
S.MONK may update these terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated to enrolled students by email with at least 14 days’ notice before taking effect. Continued use of our services after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
