What is an actuary, and could it be you?

An actuary is a financial risk expert. Using maths, probability and data, actuaries answer questions like "how much should this insurance policy cost?" or "will this pension fund have enough money in 40 years?" Actuaries put a dependable price on things that have not happened yet. You don't need a specific degree: you qualify by passing professional exams, one paper at a time, while you study or work.

Among finance's best-paid
Roughly ₹4–6 lakh a year to start, rising to ₹40 lakh+ once you fully qualify.
No fixed degree needed
Strong maths is what counts. You qualify through exams, not one specific college course.
In demand, hard to automate
India has far fewer actuaries than it needs, and the judgement is tough for AI to replace.
